Arabian Gulf University participated in a workshop to discuss global non-traditional security issues
Dr. Walid Khalil Zubari A shared professor of the Department of Water Resources and the Deputy Dean of the Graduate School University in the Arabian Gulf unvesity,participated in international workshop on natural resources in the current in the Indonesian capital Jakarta. And organize the workshop of the Henry Stimson Center (Henry L. Stimson Center), USA in collaboration with the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Jakarta (CSIS-Jakarta). The workshop discussed issues of exploitation of natural resources from the perspective of political economy and development dilemma - the environment. The workshop includes three main axes President is water, forestry and mining industries, which have been selected in non-traditional security issues because of its effects on the future of sustainable development in countries of the world in general and in developing countries in particular.
Dr. Zubari paper axis of water in the workshop, taking on the Gulf Cooperation Council as a case study, entitled "Issues and challenges of water management in the Gulf Cooperation Council: four development scenarios," and reviews in his case increasing demand for water to meet the requirements of accelerated development in the GCC countries on one hand, and limited Water available and economic costs of non-conventional water supply and environmental impacts the other hand, the potential impacts of this development paths in these countries, through four scenarios represent different models of development to achieve sustainable development. The scenarios focused mainly on process and the mechanism for decision-making communities in the Gulf between governments and the private sector and civil society.
