GCC medical students begin meeting

The fifth scientific conference for GCC medical students began under the patronage of Prince Fahad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the cultural hall of the Bahrain National Museum yesterday.

Ministers, diplomats and dignitaries attended the inaugration ceremony.
Over 1,200 students from the GCC, Jordan, Iran and Egypt are taking part in the event which concludes on Saturday.
Several students presented research papers in four sessions. After the opening ceremony the students were taken to the museum where officials explained to them Bahrin's history and culture.Many saw artifacts and took pictures to take home.

A.Hawaji, a student from the UAE University told the Tribune that this was his first visit to Bahrain. "I registered for the conference which I think is an opportunity to experience other cultures. I also want to share my experience and research work. I will be presenting a paper during the event".

Sarah Al Sadah, from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in the Kingdom said she enjoyed the opportunity to meet students from other countries.

A group of four female students from the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman concured with her and said they were enjoying the conference. They said they would present a paper.

Australian geneticist and Nobel laureate, Prof. Richard Cotton, addressed the students and shared experience with them. The day's events concluded with a visit to other historical and heritage sites in Muharraq.
