Rules for Preparing Manuscripts for Publication in the Arab Gulf Journal of Scientific Research

The journal is triennial and is published in April, August & December

The Arab Gulf Journal of Scientific Research publishes original research in the field of pure and applied sciences. It brings out a special issue about the Arabian Gulf area at the end of every Gregorian year. The journal keeps the standard of the published manuscript high by refereeing it to reputed referees specialized in the respective field. Manuscripts are sent to the Editor in Chief of the journal directly.

Rules

While preparing manuscripts for the journal, author(s) are required to adhere to the following:

  1. Manuscripts should be original along with three copies [1 + 3], double-spaced, on one side of the paper with margins. Original diagrams, figures and photographs should be sent in such a way that they do not bend or become defaced in the mail. In case of photographs (normal/coloured) three copies must be sent for refereeing purposes.
  2. All the pages should be numbered consecutively including those containing diagrams, tables and figures. Figures and diagrams should be placed after the text.
  3. Manuscripts are accepted in Arabic and English only. A manuscripttshould not exceed 15 pages (including diagrams, tables, figures and abstract).
  4. The title of the manuscript and name(s), address(es) of the author(s) should be complete in the Arabic abstract of the manuscript, if it is submitted in English.
  5. Only the metric system should be followed for all types of measurements.
  6. The following sequence should be followed in the manuscript:
    Title of the Manuscript - Name(s) of the author(s) - the author(s) address(es) - Abstract - Introduction - Materials and Methods - Results - Discussion - Conclusion - Acknowledgements - References - English abstract (not exceeding 200 words) for the Arabic manuscript and Arabic abstract (not exceeding 300 words) for an English manuscript.
  7. Author(s) should classify their manuscripts as per the Dewey system followed in libraries. This will facilitate in choosing referees.
  8. Author(s) must follow internationally agreed rules for nomenclature and abbreviations.
  9. Figures and Diagrams should be from a Laser printer, (if possible), or in a similar way and should be clean and clear, not exceeding 12 x 18 cm. Care should be taken not to write over them in hand.
  10. Diagrams, tables and figures (with key words) should be referred to in the text and their position should be indicated in pencil on the left margin of the text.
  11. References should be up-to-date and listed alphabetically according to surname(s) of the author(s) and should adhere to the following sequence:
    Name(s) of the author(s) - Year of publication - Title of the publication - Publisher - Place of publication - Volume. Pages and numbers must NOT be cited in the text, only in the refernce list. References should take the following forms:
    • Anan, F.S. (1971) Provenance and Statistical Parameters of Sediments of the Merrimach Embayment, Gulf of Maine, Ph.D. Thesis, Univ. of Mass., 377P. (unpublished).

  12. Priority will be given to manuscripts writeen in Arabic. Manuscripts concerning the Arabian Gulf area will receive preference.
  13. Author(s) will receive one copy of the issue of the journal along with 10 reprints of their manuscripts free of charge.
  14. Manuscripts not following the above rules of the journal will not be accepted for publication or sent for refereeing.
