Student Committee
The university encourages extracurricular activities for the academic student. It has carefully planned the setup of various committees, and has given them its full support, in order to encourage and nurture the gifted students in various fields and to instill a sense of unity among the students.
Three student activity committees:
- Cultural committee
- Social Committee
- Sport committee
Each committee consists of five members: a chairperson, a secretary and three members.
General aims of the committees
- Developing and enriching a student's personality by instilling a sense of sharing and responsibility.
- Encouraging and guiding the talented students
- Developing students' social, cultural, psychological and physical aspects
- Support of student activities via direct involvement
- Investing students spare time in different activities
- Each committee is assigned specific tasks and targets for organizing student activities as indicated in the regulations. The university regularly holds elections to nominate the chairperson and members of the various committees.
Conditions for committee nominations
The nominees should meet the following requirements:
- Completion of one academic year
- Should have a sound reputation
- Should not have been subjected to any academic probation
- Procedures for selecting committee members
- Announcing a fixed date for nominations
- Announcing names of nominees, their academic year and date of selection process
- Secret balloting is carried out according to the dates set by the university
- The student Welfare administration supervises the sorting out of votes. The names of the five runners up are then announced
- The committee chairperson is the one with the highest votes, followed by the secretary who is next in line
- Committee membership is valid for one year only
- Duties of committee chairperson
- Chairing the meeting and reporting to Student Welfare Unit the committee's decisions and suggestions
- Preparing a complete plan of the various activities for the academic year
- Delegating responsibilities to committee members
- Preparing a tentative budget of the committee's needs for the academic year
- Holding regular committee meetings in coordination with those in charge of extracurricular activities in the Student Welfare Unit
