The Middle East Molecular Biology Congress Honours Professor Bakhiet

The 4th Middle East Molecular Biology Congress and Exhibition honoured the Chief Executive Director of Princess Al-Jawhara Centre for Molecular Medicine, Genetics, and Inherited Disorders the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), Professor Moiz Omar Bakhit. The honours took place at the closing ceremony of the congress, held recently by the Zayed University Convention Centre, with the participation of around 800 scientists and researchers from 40 countries.



The honour was presented in recognition of Professor Bakhiet’s contributions in the fields of scientific research, which resulted in a number of scientific inventions in various medical fields, in addition to winning many international awards for his research, which was published in prominent international scientific journals.



During the ceremony, awards were presented to winners for the best research submitted to the congress, as well as the best research poster. Furthermore, the winners included female researchers from different Arab countries. The members of the Scientific Committee who selected the participating research and organised the agenda of the congress were also honoured.



The congress aims to develop the professional performance of healthcare and scientific research professionals. The award is allotted to support individuals that would improve the health sector within and abroad the UAE, by supporting  medical conferences, honouring outstanding healthcare professionals, as well as supporting continuing medical education and scientific research in the medical field, specifically on genetic diseases.



For his part, Professor Moiz Omar Bakhiet thanked the organisers of the conference, which was held under the patronage of Her Excellency Shaikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, President of Zayed University. He commended the awards presented by the Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, which push researchers and scientists towards more diligence. At the same time, he expressed appreciation of the endeavours exerted by the Middle East Molecular Biology Society to advance scientific research in the fields of molecular biology.
