PHASE I – BASIC SCIENCES PROGRAMME (YEAR 1)

Students who wish to study medicine at the Medical School of the Arabian Gulf University must complete one year of preparation (phase I) before they can be accepted into the preclinical (phase II).  During this period, they study English, Sociology, Islamic Culture, Medical Ethics, Psychology, Computer Science, Human Biology, Medical Physics, Organic Biochemistry, Integrated Sciences and Biostatistics.The goal of this programme is to prepare the students, who are generally high school graduates for an innovative medical program in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes, as well as for self-directed learning and problem-solving. 

It is also designed to improve students’ ability to write, read and understand English, which is the medium of instruction, and to understand the principles of communication skills, medical ethics and critical analysis. Year 1 Course Outlines
