Master

The students who were immediately accepted to the master program in Distance Teaching and Training Program are required to successfully twelve instructional modules to get the master degree. Ten out of these twelve modules are given in the first year, and the remaining two are given during the second year.  In the diploma degree students are required to complete the master prerequisite courses by self learning and by making use of the instructional materials provided by the program. A student completes the master degree requirements by completing a thesis that tackles one of the Distance Teaching issues or problems.
The master degree student as well the diploma degree student study three types of courses, which can be categorized as following:

  1. Basic courses: consist of six modules that mainly covers theoretical concepts (Learning Theories; Materials, Media and Development Tools; Writing the Materials; Design and Presentation; Instructional Design; Tutoring and Assigns Distance Students).
  2. Four methodological courses:  Introduction to Educational Statistic; Research Methods in Education; Seminar; Quantitative Research Data Analysis.
  3. Two practical courses, which are designing e-Learning Materials and Authoring and Publishing e-Learning Materials.

In addition to these courses the student should prepare a master thesis that tackle one of Distance Learning or Training issues or problems. The student is required to follow the scientific methodology of planning to solve a problem starting from stating the problem, through designing the solution, implementing it, manage it, assess the results and write the final report.

The master program students follow the same teaching methodology the diploma students follow, they share the same courses given during the first semester of the first year, these courses are considered as the main courses for Distance Teaching and Training students.  Which are Learning Theories; Materials, Media and Development Tools; Writing the Materials; Design and Presentation; and Designing e-Learning Materials.

In the second semester of the first year, the master student studies five theoretical courses, two of those are main courses which are:  Instructional Design and Tutoring and Assigns Distance Students. The three remaining courses are Introduction to Educational Statistic; Research Methods in Education; and the Seminar.

During the third semester (the first of the second year), the students learn one application course that aims to train the students and develop their skills on preparing and authoring e-Learning materials. And from the early beginning of this semester the students are required to plan and develop their research materials.

During the fourth semester the students take one course which is quantitative research data analysis. The student should take a full time commitment to work on the master thesis.  The program took care of this particular course to enable the students from having a direct communication with the instructors and his/her colleagues which could help in solving the problems the student could face while implementing their studies. Students could take advantage of the classroom and Virtual Learning Environment discussions. Following to complete all the master courses and defined the thesis, the student should be giving a Master Degree in Distance Teaching and Training.
