  • Head of Information Technology Department
Job Description
Main Responsibilities
? Monitors the implementation and consistency of the IT’s policies and procedures across the University.
? Analyze the business requirements of all departments in the university to determine their technology needs.
? Ensures that the IT infrastructure including hardware, software, and internet communication systems, are adequately provided and easily accessible.
? Supervises the helpdesk support unit in order to ensure that requests or complaints raised by students or faculty are resolved on a timely basis.
? Monitors and controls the IT department’s allocated budget and report on expenditures.
? Develops and maintains the management information systems (MIS) at AGU.
? Monitor the quality of IT services at the University, in order to identify areas for improvement.
? Ensures that appropriate security measures are installed and constantly monitored in order to prevent malicious attacks, as well as data loss or corruption, from occurring in University servers, computers and network.
? Implements and monitors IT support programs which will aid students in their research activities.
? Oversees contracts for software design and development.
? Identifies the current and future needs of the department and defines the user requirements.
? Reviews the training materials and guide the process for training new IT staff.
? Establishes strategic relationships with key IT suppliers and vendors.
? Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by the university Senior management.

People Management
? Provides collaborative leadership to the staff of his/her unit.
? Ensures that IT unit staff are provided with the appropriate training that they require in order for them to perform to the best of their ability; and to offer them scope of career progression within the University.
? Assigns tasks equally within the unit, ensuring that all employees are fully capable and aware of the responsibilities expected of them, and the role they play in driving the department forward.
? Evaluates subordinates performance in a fair, transparent, and objective manner on a periodic basis.
? Ensures superiors are well informed at all times.

Qualifications
Education/Experience Profile
? Master Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, or related field
? Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in an academic institution.
? Experience with SAP Software.
? CCPM, CISO, and CCNA Training.
? Proficient in English and Arabic – Spoken and Written
