The Effectiveness of a Musical Program in Improving Social Interaction of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the State of Kuwait

Abstract: This study aimed to verify the effect of a musical program in improving social interaction among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The study sample consisted of 12 children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, whose ages ranged between (6-12) years, from the School of Children with Autistic Behaviour-Boys in the State of Kuwait. They were divided into two groups; the experimental and the control group. There were (6) children in each group. The research tools consisted of the Social Interaction Measure and the Musical Programs for Improving Social Interaction. The quasi- experimental method for the two equivalent groups has been used. The results showed the existence of statistically significant differences in the mean performance of the post application for measuring social interaction. Furthermore, the experimental group results showed the existence of statistically significant differences in the mean performance of the pre and post application for measuring social interaction. Also, the analysis showed statistically significant difference in the post and follow-up performance means of for the experimental group for the social interaction measure.
