Student Affairs Department ensures that students receive a well-rounded student experience in order to foster students’ personal growth and underscore to the entire AGU that students are important and the reason AGU exists. The Student Affairs department is responsible for encouraging students to excel academically, embrace diversity, engage in positive student life and leadership, choose a healthy lifestyle, and serve the community.
The Student Affairs department is responsible for ensuring the physical environment of the University is conducive to establishing a student community. The Student Affairs department also promotes good health, friendship and community through competitive intramural sports. The Department supports all activities that reduce stress and provide an environment for fun and safe student life.
Core activities
The Student Affairs Department plays a significant role in coordinating, organizing and encouraging student activities within the University. Apart from arranging activities, the Student Affairs Department attempts to address students’ personal issues during troubled times, by offering useful advice or counseling sessions to help alleviate their concerns. The main responsibilities of the Student Affairs Department are as follows:
- Expanding and enhancing the student’s personality and mentality
- Advocating Islamic behavior and upbringing
- Refining the student’s talents and abilities, whilst developing their knowledge and experience and
- Providing comfort and peace of mind to students
Roles and Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of the key personnel in Admin are provided below.
Head of Student Affairs
Oversees the activities undertaken by the student body, and ensures that the needs and welfare of AGU students are adequately met
Student Counselor
Endorses community service programs and encourages student contribution to the community. The Student Counselor is also responsible for resolving any issue or problem raised by students
Activities Supervisor
Ensures that students are provided with a wide range of extra-curricular activities, so as to enhance their life at University, and provide them with a balance between their work and recreational lives.
Maintenance and Cleaning Supervisor (Male/ Female)
Inspects furniture prior to student checkout, replaces old or damaged furniture, and supervises maintenance workers
Hostel Supervisor (Male/ Female)
Supervises all activities taking place within the University’s dormitories. The supervisor also monitors the attendance of students and ensures that all facilities within the hostel are not damaged or vandalized.
