The College of Graduate Studies (CGS) at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) organised preparation and guidance activities for incoming students from GCC countries who were accepted in the Master and PhD programmes for the academic year 2023-2024.
The activity included meetings of new students with Dr Abdulrahman Yousif Ismael, AGU Vice President for Administrative Affairs and Dean of Student Affairs, who urged students to adopt innovation and focus on scientific publishing, and the necessity of achieving the maximum goal of the various services provided by the University in general, and the College in particular, including the library, laboratories and the various workshops.
Dr Ismael briefed the incoming students on the vision, mission and strategy of the University aimed at addressing development issues in the GCC countries, by offering innovative academic programmes in various specialisations and graduating creative cadres who are capable of assuming leadership positions and advancing development and innovation.
For his part, Dr Soud Mohammad Almahamid, Dean of CGS, stressed the importance of adopting scientific research that serves GCC countries and its aspirations.
He also reiterated that AGU is keen to introduce the latest and most innovative academic specialisations, which contribute to achieving sustainable development in the GCC countries, in addition to providing studies and consultations to governments, and regional and international bodies on issues of environment, education, technology, and health.
During the activity, Mr Abdulhamed Marhoun, Head of Admission and Registration Unit, explained to the newly accepted students the nature of the requirements for passing academic programmes at CGS. He also clarified the academic rules, regulations and laws, and answered students' inquiries regarding subject registration and cumulative average.
The induction day also included speeches and presentations delivered by the academic and administrative staff at AGU, including Ms Athra Al Alawi from the Library Department, Ms Aysha Al Subaiei, Head of Student Care and Housing Unit, Mr Husain Al Araibi from the Media Unit, Mr Husam Aburahma, Systems Administrator at the Information Technology Centre and Ms Roshni Kumar from the CGS Electronic Portal.
