
AGU Hosts Advanced Simulation Workshop for Bahraini Board Doctors

Seventy-five resident doctors enrolled in the Bahraini Board Family Medicine Program participated in an intensive three-day training workshop conducted at the Medical Skills and Simulation Centre at Arabian Gulf University (AGU). The event was sponsored by His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of AGU, stemming from the university’s mission of equipping Gulf medical professionals with the latest knowledge and skills.
The workshop encompassed a broad range of topics, including ENT, OB-GYN, general surgery, internal medicine, urgent care, and other specialties, employing highly realistic simulation and advanced training devices. The Medical Skills and Simulation Centre provided an exceptional educational environment, enriched by state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained staff.
This initiative aligns with AGU’s vision to strengthen its community engagement and foster strategic partnerships with medical and training institutions across Bahrain and the region by opening the centre’s doors to healthcare professionals and offering a realistic clinical environment that enhances practical skills. Participants expressed great admiration for the meticulous organisation, the availability of advanced equipment, and the expertise of the teaching staff, affirming that the experience was unforgettable.
Dr Nahedh Al-Lababidi, Head of the Family Medicine Program at Bahrain Primary Healthcare Centres, commented that the workshop’s success. He stressed that collaboration between AGU and the Family Medicine Program in training doctors with professional and practical skills will significantly elevate the academic and clinical standards of trainees.
Professor Abdel Halim Deifalla, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at AGU, highlighted the university’s proven track record in health education and training, driven by innovative simulation technologies that enhance trainee performance, preparing them for the future of healthcare.
Meanwhile, Dr Reem Al Ansari, Head of the Medical Skills and Simulation Centre, stated, “The centre provides ample space, advanced audiovisual systems, and cutting-edge equipment, supported by a competent team experienced in simulation and medical procedures. An efficient administrative and engineering team ensures smooth operations. This integration of infrastructure, human expertise, and operational support creates an ideal environment for practical training, enriching learning outcomes and providing a unique educational experience.”
It is noteworthy that the Medical Skills and Simulation Centre at AGU has received international accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, the United States, and ECC International, affiliated with the American Heart Association.
