The Medical Skills and Simulation Centre, in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Centre for Community Service, Consultation, Training, and Continuing Education, successfully concluded a series of first aid courses aimed at university staff and employees in the Capital Governorate. The initiative sought to raise awareness of first aid practices and promote a safety-conscious culture while encouraging prompt emergency response and community service.
Each intensive training session, lasting between four to five hours, was led by American Heart Association certified instructors from the Medical Skills and Simulation Centre, namely the Paramedic Ruel Gutierrez and Dr Ibrahim Abdulkarim. They delivered a practical training course focused on essential first aid skills, enhancing participants’ readiness to handle various emergency situations with competence.
These courses aimed to serve as a model of health education and community work by equipping participants with the essential knowledge and skills to respond to emergencies and contribute to saving lives, thereby enhancing public safety and raising community awareness.
A key feature of the training was the incorporation of practical simulations of emergency procedures. Participants commended the interactive approach, which reinforced their understanding and made the learning experience more realistic and impactful. This initiative aligns with AGU’s commitment to community service and the promotion of prevention and safety culture.
