Students of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Arabian Gulf University (AGU) participated in the activities of the Environment, Health and Safety Week held by BAPCO, within the framework of activating their community role. The event served as an interactive platform to identify the risk factors associated with diabetes and preventative measures, providing guidance on adopting healthy lifestyles that focus on proper nutrition and regular exercise, in addition to the importance of periodic follow-up with doctors for early detection.

The programs included a series of workshops and lectures promoting the culture of health and safety in the workplace, presenting the latest occupational health and safety standards and asserting the importance of applying sustainable environmental practices that protect society from risks. Participants engaged in the various activities wherein expertise and knowledge were exchanged between organisers, specialists and students.
The participation of AGU students was coordinated by the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Deanship of Student Affairs under the supervision of Dr Aseel Al-Saleh, Associate Professor and Nutritionist at the University Medical Centre (UMC) in King Abdullah Medical City and Dr Fatema Habbash, Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Nutrition and Lifestyle Consultant at UMC.

They indicated that such events present an opportunity to enhance community awareness about the foundations of healthy living, motivating individuals to take practical steps towards maintaining health and safety in their daily and professional environments.
For their part, the student participants spread knowledge about chronic diseases such as diabetes and their prevention, besides the importance of preserving the workplace by applying occupational health and safety standards and paying attention to sustainable environmental practices.
