Bio

     Prof. Khalid Al Khaja is a professor of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at the College of Medicine & Medical Sciences, Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain since 2007. Prof. Al Khaja joined AGU in 1985 as assistant professor, almost at the beginning of the medical school. He contributed as Head of Purchasing & Store Section from 1985 to 1988. He has served on several key committees of the college and university, as chair or member.  Prof. Al Khaja obtained a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from University of Nottingham, U.K. in 1982 and B.Sc. (Pharmacy) from University of Cairo, Egypt in 1976.  His research interests include rational drug therapy; prescription audits and errors to improve the quality of primary care practice; pharmacoepidemiology; polypharmacy and drug-drug interactions; nationwide survey pertaining the drug therapy on diabetes and hypertension in primary care level in Bahrain; evaluation on treatment guidelines pertaining to diabetes and hypertension.  He has published several research papers in international peer reviewed journals and is a member of several international professional societies, and reviewer for regional and international leading journals in clinical pharmacology, pharmacoepidemiology, prescription errors, health policy, and medical education.
