Al-Shirawi is an Professor of Special Education – Previosly the Head of the Department of Learning Difficulties and Developmental Disabilities at the Arabian Gulf University, Member of the American Association for Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities, Member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Society for Mental Disability and Autism and General Supervisor of Al-Wafa Center for Autism for the morning and evening periods, Member of the Federation of the Disabled in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Member and Representative of the Arabian Gulf University in the Disability Evaluation and Diagnosis Committee of the Ministry of Social Development in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
