process that confidentially deals with the human problems associated with the occurrence, or risk of occurrence of a genetic disorder in a family, and that provides accurate scientific and comprehendible information so that families can take their own decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Genetic counselling is in collaboration with the University Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Genetic counselling services<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Counselling affected individuals and families having affected children with a congenital disorder.<\/li>\n<li>Premarital counselling.<\/li>\n<li>Preconception counselling.<\/li>\n<li>Pre-screening \/ pretesting counselling.<\/li>\n<li>Counselling regarding consanguinity.<\/li>\n<li>Genetic counselling is proposing information in order to understand<br \/>Diagnosis, management and prognosis.<\/li>\n<li>Mode of inheritance.<\/li>\n<li>Estimation of risks occurrence.<\/li>\n<li>Options available for dealing with the risks (prenatal screening, prenatal diagnosis, pre-implantation diagnosis).<\/li>\n<li>Options available to cope with the disorder (follow up, support groups).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Common indication for Genetic Counselling<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Family history of a hereditary condition.<\/li>\n<li>Previous child with multiple congenital anomalies.<\/li>\n<li>Previous child with mental retardation.<\/li>\n<li>Previous child with an isolated birth defect.<\/li>\n<li>History of miscarriages or still born babies.<\/li>\n<li>Infertility.<\/li>\n<li>Prenatal diagnosis for advance maternal age (over 35 years).<\/li>\n<li>Infections during pregnancy.<\/li>\n<li>Consanguinity.<\/li>\n<li>Newly diagnosed abnormality or genetic condition.<\/li>\n<li>Teratogen exposure (chemical, medications, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Two or more relatives who have had cancer at a young age.<\/li>\n<li>Before undertaking genetic testing and after receiving results.<\/li>\n<li>After a positive result
