The field training \u2013 a component of a broader field applications course \u2013 is overseen by Dr Maryam Al Sherawi, Professor of Special Education.<\/p><p>During the programme, the candidates familiarised themselves with the centre\u2019s various departments and units and engaged in in\u2010depth discussions on several special education topics with the centre\u2019s educational guidance team. They also reviewed the objectives of the visit and the mechanisms for implementing programmes for children with different levels of disability \u2013 from mild and moderate to severe \u2013 spanning early childhood to the rehabilitation phase.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" data-entity-uuid=\"84bc4f50-d8a1-47fb-9d37-448413811eb7\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.agu.edu.bh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/123.jpg\" width=\"1600\" height=\"775\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1600\/775;\"><p>Furthermore, an agreement was reached during the visit to launch the first training workshop for parents of children with developmental disabilities. The workshop aims to alleviate parental anxiety regarding their children\u2019s futures and to correct unfounded perceptions that might hinder positive engagement with their children\u2019s needs and future aspirations.<\/p><p>Dr Al Sherawi noted that the visit is designed to broaden the horizons of postgraduate students by providing direct exposure to practical real-world applications in the field of developmental disabilities. This hands-on experience is expected to enhance their academic and professional skills.<\/p><p>This visit forms part of a series of field activities organised by the Learning Difficulties and Developmental Disabilities programme to strengthen cooperation between the university and community institutions specialising in disability care.
