His Excellency Dr. Saad bin Saud Al-Fahaid, President of Arabian Gulf University, received a high-level academic and medical delegation from Shaikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to discuss opportunities for academic, educational, and joint research cooperation between the two sides. This took place within the framework of Shaikh Shakhbout Medical City’s strategic direction to strengthen regional academic partnerships with leading medical education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, discuss areas of mutual interest, and gain a firsthand understanding of the advanced educational and research facilities and capabilities available at Arabian Gulf University.

The Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saleh Madadin, along with a number of senior officials from the college, its departments, and specialized centers, held a discussion session with the visiting delegation. The session addressed areas of academic, educational, and research cooperation of mutual interest, as well as ways to develop these areas, thereby opening promising prospects for a sustainable partnership.

The two sides discussed opportunities for bilateral cooperation in a number of strategic areas, foremost among which are strengthening clinical training programs for students, enhancing joint cooperation in medical simulation centers and academic accreditation processes, as well as developing exchange programs for medical students and supporting areas of research collaboration and joint academic projects, as well as facilitating faculty exchanges and organizing specialized educational events; all of which contribute to strengthening academic and research collaboration and the exchange of expertise between the two institutions.

The visit’s program included a field tour of the campus for the delegation, which covered state-of-the-art educational facilities, advanced laboratories, and the Medical Skills and Simulation Center, to examine the latest methods and technologies used in training students and future physicians at the university.

The delegation from Shaikh Shakhbout Medical City included Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Al-Kuwaiti, Director of Academic and Educational Affairs; Dr. Essam Sayed Saleh, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; and Mohamed Badran, an official in the Office of Academic and Educational Affairs.

This visit underscores the depth of shared academic ties across the Gulf and opens promising avenues for the exchange of medical and research expertise, thereby contributing to the development of the healthcare sector and medical education in the region.
