
AGU Postgraduate Awarded Master’s for Thesis on Antifungal Resistance in Oral Candida among Diabetic Patients

Ms Fatima Al Anzi, a Master of Science candidate in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), has been awarded her master’s degree for her thesis in medical laboratory sciences, entitled “Species Diversity and Antifungal Resistance Patterns of Oral Candida Isolates in Patients with Diabetes”.
Ms Al Anzi demonstrated a deep understanding of Candida colonisation, providing key insights into the factors that promote this colonisation and the mechanisms of antifungal resistance in diabetic patients.
The examining committee, consisting of Dr Shady Zakai, Ms Eman Farid, Mr Mohammad Shahid, Dr RonI Joji and Dr Mona Ouriqat, unanimously approved the thesis.
