Dr Ghazi Al Otaibi Appointed Vice President for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research at the Arabian Gulf University

His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), has issued an announcement appointing Dr Ghazi bin Abdulrahman Al Otaibi as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research. This decision aims to enhance academic excellence and support scientific research, thereby reinforcing the university’s status as a leading educational institution in the GCC region.

This appointment acknowledges Dr Al Otaibi’s distinguished academic and administrative experience, as well as his significant contributions to the development of higher education and scientific research at both local and regional levels. 

In turn, Dr Al Otaibi expressed his gratitude to the university president and the Board of Trustees for their trust in him, reaffirming his commitment to achieving the university’s strategic goals. He highlighted the importance of developing academic curricula, promoting innovation in scientific research and encouraging partnerships with global academic institutions to enhance the university’s position as a leading scientific beacon.

Prior to joining AGU, Dr Al Otaibi held the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University and served as a member of the university’s Board of Trustees since December 2020. 

His professional trajectory includes various leadership roles, such as Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Head of the Respiratory Care Department at the same college, Academic Affairs Dean, and President of the Saudi Scientific Society for Respiratory Therapy.

Dr Al Otaibi holds a PhD in Critical Care Respiratory Therapy from the University of New Jersey Medical School in the United States, as well as a Master’s degree in Respiratory Care from Georgia State University. 

Additionally, he has a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education, Teaching Methods and Higher Education Curricula from the University of Dundee in Scotland, and a Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care from the University of Kansas in the United States.

It is noteworthy that AGU is a leading institution in medical education and postgraduate studies, actively developing advanced academic and research programmes to serve GCC communities. The appointment of Dr Al Otaibi reflects the university’s commitment to attracting outstanding academic leaders to enhance its mission of providing advanced education and supporting scientific innovation.
