
Under the Patronage of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince: The Arabian Gulf University Celebrates the Graduation of 279 Students

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) graduation ceremony for the academic year 2023/2024 took place at the Exhibition World Bahrain on Sunday (June 23, 2024) in the presence of His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH).
The ceremony marked the graduation of 279 male and female students, including 182 male and female students from the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS), and 97 male and female students from the College of Graduate Studies (CGS).
On this occasion, SCH President praised the university’s role in providing medical personnel to the health system in the Kingdom of Bahrain, contributing to the achievement of the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also highlighted the university’s contributions to the development of the health care system in GCC countries, graduating a total of 3,527 doctors since its founding in 1980.
In a speech delivered at the ceremony, His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, stated that the ceremony coincides with Bahrain’s celebration of the silver jubilee of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, providing an opportunity to recall the pioneering educational, health and development milestones achieved during the prosperous era under HM the King’s rule, further enhancing the position of the Kingdom. The Minister also expressed his gratitude to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his patronage of the event.
On his part, His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of AGU, thanked HM the King for the endless support to the university and its employees. He also expressed his gratitude to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his patronage of the university’s graduates, reiterating that the university will continue its journey in providing the GCC countries with distinguished leadership cadres and competencies.
Dr Al Fuhaid also congratulated the university’s 36th batch of graduates, wishing them a distinguished practical journey, and to continue the excellence achieved by their predecessors the alumni of AGU in various fields.
The ceremony included a speech by His Excellency Dr Ahmed Abdulwahab Al Awadhi, Minister of Health of the State of Kuwait, who emphasised that AGU is a symbol of Gulf and Arab identity. He also congratulated the graduates on their achievement.
SCH President honoured the outstanding students of the CMMS and CGS, while the Minister and AGU President also participated in the honouring of the graduates. The ceremony included an honouring of the family of the university’s late Dr Sayyed Mohammed Sayyed Hashem Al Qassab, a graduate of the Master’s Programme in Personalised Medicine.
The ceremony concluded with 182 male and female doctors, graduates of the CMMS, repeating the doctor’s oath behind Dr Mona Erekat, Deputy Dean of the CMMS.
