Program Overview

The college follows a problem-based, student-centered educational approach. In this system, learning takes place through an integrative approach based on the body’s various systems. Faculty members assist students in their learning by serving as facilitators for small groups. This educational strategy, which is currently being adopted by a growing number of medical schools worldwide, aims to equip graduates with the required knowledge, self-directed learning skills, and professional behaviors necessary to fulfill their mission of providing the best possible patient care.

The curriculum adopted by the college has several distinctive features, including its problem-solving approach, which helps students develop the skills needed to manage clinical cases in the future. The curriculum emphasizes the community dimension of medical education, allowing students during their years of study to train at health centers that provide primary medical care to the community and to conduct research focused on common diseases in the community. The curriculum also integrates basic medical sciences, such as anatomy and physiology, with clinical sciences, helping students to connect them in an integrated manner.

The curriculum of the “Doctor of Medicine” program is characterized by the following:
Horizontal integration: The curriculum in the second phase of the program is characterized by horizontal integration between the basic medical sciences and the clinical sciences, professional skills, and community health activities.
Vertical Integration: There are two types of vertical integration in the curriculum: (a) Prerequisites: To advance from the first phase to the second, students must pass all first-phase courses. Additionally, students must achieve a passing grade in all second-phase modules to advance to the third phase of the program.
