AGU and Arab Open University Sign MoU to Strengthen Collaboration in Information Services and Scientific Research

His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of Arabian Gulf University (AGU), and Dr Najma Taqi, President of the Arab Open University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering joint cooperation and integrating efforts in information services, scientific research support, and knowledge exchange.

The MoU seeks to strengthen collaboration between the two parties by sharing expertise in library services and learning resources. It also aims to broaden access to diverse informational materials for students and faculty members at both universities.

Key areas of cooperation include developing channels for exchanging printed books and references in accordance with mutually agreed regulations, and providing access to each other's library collections to support education and research activities. The MoU also encompasses offering consultations, conducting joint training courses, developing innovative mechanisms to meet the needs of information services users, and establishing effective digital communication channels for seamless access to educational resources.

Additionally, the MoU stipulates the exchange of scientific publications and the provision of electronic information resources, including books, articles, research papers, and dissertations, in compliance with applicable intellectual property laws.

This agreement reflects both parties’ commitment to building strong partnerships that advance information services, bolster scientific research, and support higher education in Bahrain, ultimately benefiting students and researchers and enriching the academic environment.

Commenting on the agreement, His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid noted that this MoU reflects the importance of strengthening knowledge integration among Bahrain's academic institutions. He asserted that AGU’s library continually strives to develop its services and expand access to digital and print resources, thereby supporting scientific innovation and strengthening the region’s academic landscape.

For her part, Dr Najma Taqi confirmed that this partnership aligns with both universities’ goals of enhancing learning resource systems and reinforcing academic collaborations that promote open education and lifelong learning. This cooperation opens new avenues for sharing expertise and integrating knowledge resources, benefiting students and faculty while improving educational and research outcomes.
