AGU Signs Partnership Agreement with Riphah International University to Organise ICME 2027

Arabian Gulf University (AGU) has signed a partnership agreement with Riphah International University, Pakistan, to enhance international cooperation in the field of medical education. The agreement aims to provide a scientific platform for shared expertise among academics, researchers, and professionals while organising a joint international conference bringing together medical education experts from around the world.

Signed remotely on Tuesday morning, 30 September 2025, the agreement establishes joint organising committees to prepare for the 8th International Conference on Medical Education (ICME 2027). The agreement seeks to facilitate interaction between global experts in medical education and invite international speaker participation. It also calls for establishment of joint educational programmes, including forums, lectures, training workshops, and research projects.

Following the signing, AGU President Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid commented, "This partnership with Riphah International University aims to enhance scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange in medical education and to provide an international platform for dialogue and professional development. It is a strategic step demonstrating our two universities’ commitment to advancing medical education and scientific research. It will enable the exchange of experiences and knowledge among faculty, medical and health sciences students, and researchers at both institutions, contributing to higher-quality education and research besides the development of academic and professional skills."

He added, "This partnership forms a vital bridge for academic and research collaboration in medical education, fostering the exchange of scientific expertise and the organisation of joint conferences. It strengthens the regional and international standing of both universities and supports the development of medical education in line with global aspirations."

For his part, Dr Yawar Hayat Khan, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ripha International University, noted that the university is proud to partner with AGU to organise the eighth edition of ICME, the biennial event held in collaboration with respected educational institutions worldwide.

The conference aims to reflect recent developments and trends in medical education, including the use of technology and artificial intelligence. It seeks to enhance academic cooperation while contributing to curriculum development to meet the needs of the global health system and to discuss quality and accreditation standards to ensure high-quality education.

The conference will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain and is expected to attract international and local experts in medical education, expanding opportunities for academic and research collaboration and the advancement of medical education.
