The organizing committee for the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Conference, which is being organized by the Arabian Gulf University in the capital, Manama, from November 5 to 7, held a series of meetings as part of the ongoing preparations for the conference, with the aim of ensuring organizational readiness and seamless coordination of the various logistical and scientific aspects of this international event specializing in artificial intelligence applications in healthcare. The conference will feature an elite group of experts, academics, and specialists from the region and around the world, and will showcase the latest innovations and practical applications of smart technologies in various fields of medicine.

This conference reflects the accelerating trend toward integrating artificial intelligence technologies into the healthcare system by discussing advanced solutions in multiple fields, most notably cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, medical education, and genomics, thereby contributing to the development of the quality of healthcare services and enhancing their efficiency.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research, Dr. Ghazi bin Abdulrahman Al-Otaibi, explained that the conference’s scientific program includes advanced topics focusing on the use of artificial intelligence in the prevention of heart disease and the prediction of its risks, as well as supporting the care of patients with diabetes and obesity through continuous monitoring systems and personalized treatment, in addition to the development of medical imaging technologies and the improvement of their diagnostic accuracy.

In addition, the conference sessions will address the applications of artificial intelligence in emergency and intensive care units, including intelligent patient triage, early detection of critical conditions, and the personalization of treatment plans—all of which enhance the speed of medical response and improve the quality of healthcare. The discussion will also extend to the ethical and regulatory aspects associated with the use of artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector, with a focus on protecting patient privacy and ensuring the safe and responsible use of modern technologies, as well as the role of AI in advancing nursing, medical education, and precision medicine through support for clinical decision-making, remote monitoring applications, and the training of digitally skilled healthcare professionals capable of keeping pace with rapid technological transformation. There will also be a session dedicated to medical students that explores AI applications in medical education.

Furthermore, the conference will discuss the fields of genomics and bioinformatics, including the discovery of biomarkers, the acceleration of medicine development, and the prediction of therapeutic response, as well as the enhancement of primary and virtual care services and the improvement of chronic disease management outside the scope of traditional healthcare facilities. The conference will conclude with hands-on workshops on the uses of artificial intelligence in ECG interpretation, clinical research design, and health data analysis—a move that reflects a growing trend toward integrating smart technologies into the healthcare system, while emphasizing the synergy between technological innovation and human expertise.
