Researcher Al-Qamish Studies the Potential for Organizational Innovation in the Public Sector for Her Doctoral Degree

Anfal Hassan Jassim Al-Qamish, a researcher in the Innovation and Technology Management Program at the College of Education, Administrative and Technical Sciences at the Arabian Gulf University, defended her doctoral dissertation in Innovation Management, titled: “A Study of the Potential for Organizational Innovation Performance in the Public Sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”
The dissertation examined the factors influencing the enhancement of innovative performance within public sector institutions by analyzing the role of managerial practices, organizational culture, knowledge-sharing mechanisms, and technological capabilities, while highlighting employee empowerment as one of the key drivers for fostering institutional innovation.
The study also emphasized the importance of developing organizational work environments and fostering a culture of innovation by empowering human capital, supporting modern management practices, and optimizing investment in technological advancements—all of which contribute to enhancing organizational performance and achieving sustainable development goals. The results highlighted the need to adopt more flexible and comprehensive policies capable of supporting creativity and enhancing the readiness of government institutions to overcome future challenges.
This study derives its significance from its focus on the reality of innovation in Bahrain’s public sector and its provision of a scientific and practical framework that can be utilized in the development of institutional policies and practices, thereby enhancing institutional competitiveness and raising the level of government excellence.
Researcher Al-Qamish explained that this dissertation falls within the framework of supporting national efforts aimed at promoting innovation in the public sector, in line with the objectives of Bahrain Vision 2030, and contributes to the development of the government system and the enhancement of its efficiency and competitiveness at the local and regional levels, affirming the pivotal role of scientific research in supporting the development process and building a more sustainable and innovative future.
The examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Abdulkarim Khan, Professor of Organizational Behavior at the College of Business and Economics at the United Arab Emirates University, serving as an external examiner, and Prof. Dr. Ouda Rashid Al-Jyousi, Professor of Innovation Policy in the Department of Business Administration at the Arabian Gulf University, serving as an internal examiner, while the supervisory committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Fayrouz Al-Damour, Professor of Management Information Systems in the Department of Business Administration at Arabian Gulf University, as primary supervisor, and Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Alawi, Professor of Business Administration and Information Systems in the same department, as co-supervisor.
