AGU Signs Consultancy Supervision Agreement with Gulf House Engineering for First Phase of King Abdullah Medical City Project

His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al-Fuhaid, President of Arabian Gulf University (AGU), has signed a consultancy supervision agreement for the first phase of the King Abdullah Medical City project, one of the most significant health and development initiatives in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf. The agreement was signed with Ms Nawal Abdul Karim, General Manager of Gulf House Engineering, to ensure that the construction and electromechanical works are executed according to the highest quality standards and international specifications adopted in Bahrain.
The agreement stipulates that Gulf House Engineering will provide comprehensive engineering supervision of the project, including reviewing and approving plans and technical documents, overseeing construction, installation, and infrastructure work, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, monitoring progress according to the approved schedule, verifying the readiness of technical systems and medical equipment, reviewing operational documents, and coordinating effectively among contractors and stakeholders until final handover.
The King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City project holds strategic importance, representing a major development initiative that reflects the strong fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Saudi Arabian government generously funded the project with 1.2 billion Saudi Riyals, while His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain graciously donated a one-million-square-meter land plot for its construction. This project exemplifies Gulf cooperation in healthcare and education, particularly in medical training and scientific research.
During the signing ceremony, Dr Al Fuhaid affirmed that the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City project is a landmark in medical and educational development that enhances Bahrain’s reputation as a hub for medical innovation. He stated, "AGU is dedicating its utmost efforts to ensure this project's successful completion according to the highest international standards, honouring the generous legacy of the late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and supporting His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s vision to advance Bahrain’s healthcare sector."
For her part, Ms Nawal Abdul Karim, General Manager of Gulf House Engineering, expressed pride in this strategic partnership, confirming the company's commitment to allocating all necessary resources to deliver the project with the required quality and within the agreed timeframe. This dedication aims to achieve the shared objective of providing a comprehensive healthcare environment equipped with the latest systems, befitting the scale of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City project, which is among the largest health and academic developments in the region.
