The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) organised a celebration marking the 65th National Day of the State of Kuwait and its 35th Liberation Day. The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of AGU, and attended by His Excellency Counsellor Yousef Al-Banwan, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Kuwait, representatives from the Kuwaiti Cultural Office and the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) Bahrain, faculty and administrative staff, as well as students from Kuwait and other GCC countries.

During the celebration, Dr Ghazi Alotaibi, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research, delivered the Acting President's address. He extended warm congratulations to His Highness the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and to the Kuwaiti people, wishing Kuwait continued security and prosperity. He highlighted the enduring historical ties between AGU and Kuwait, which have spanned over 45 years, and reaffirmed Kuwait's fundamental support of the university since its inception.

Dr Alotaibi stated, “National Day is a significant occasion to reflect on the achievements made possible by Kuwait’s wise leadership and the dedicated efforts of its citizens, who continue to greatly contribute across various fields.” He expressed appreciation for Kuwait’s ongoing support, which enhances the university's academic and research excellence and helps develop generations of qualified professionals to contribute to national development.

He added, “Kuwait was a pioneer in supporting the university’s programmes and played a key role in its establishment, exemplifying the strong fraternal bonds among Gulf states.” He highlighted the distinguished contributions of Kuwaiti AGU graduates, over two thousand to date, many of whom hold prominent positions across various sectors and have contributed to building national institutions and elevating the university’s reputation regionally and internationally.

For his part Dr Mohammed Al Dughaim, Head of the Kuwaiti Cultural Office at the Kuwaiti Embassy, stated that national holidays are a source of pride and honour for every Kuwaiti, embodying devotion to the homeland and its wise leadership. He indicated the deep fraternal ties between Kuwait, Bahrain, and all GCC countries, emphasising the bonds of kinship and shared destiny that unite the peoples of the Gulf.

Dr Al Dughaim also outlined the responsibilities of the Kuwaiti Cultural Office, including supporting scholarships, monitoring student progress, and ensuring their successful graduation. He expressed pride in seeing Kuwaiti students celebrating their National Day at the university, reaffirming their pride in their national identity and their commitment to representing Kuwait with dignity.

On behalf of the Kuwaiti students, Ali Ashkanani reaffirmed their pledge of loyalty. He described National Day as an immortal occasion where flags are raised high, goals are elevated, and hearts beat with renewed love for the homeland, stating, “National Day is a pledge renewed in our hearts, an identity preserved, a message carried, and a journey continued. Kuwait is a banner of security and a pulse of belonging that unites us all.”

Sponsored by NBK Bahrain, the event saw wide student participation. The celebration featured an exhibition showcasing Kuwait’s history, including stages of oil exploration, the growth of the agricultural sector, and displays highlighting the roles of legislative and executive authorities such as the National Assembly, the Palace of Justice, and Seif Palace. A dedicated section honoured the martyrs of the Kuwaiti resistance, alongside booths for photography, traditional cuisine, and Kuwaiti products and industries. The student Ali Al-Enezi acted as MC, while the event opened with a recitation of the Holy Quran by student Abdulaziz Al-Obaidan.
