About

AGU

The idea of establishing the Arabian Gulf University emerged in 1980, guided by the noble vision and strategic perspective of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states. The university serves as a genuine expression of the desire of these leaders and the communities of the Gulf countries to enhance cooperation and integration among them, particularly in the fields of higher education and joint scientific research.

The Arabian Gulf University is a government university with autonomy, located in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is managed by the Gulf Cooperation Council through the General Conference, which is the highest authority governing the university and comprises the esteemed Ministers of Education or Higher Education and Scientific Research from the member states. Additionally, the university is overseen by a Gulf Board of Trustees according to its governing system and by laws.
