Arabian Gulf University has achieved a new milestone by maintaining its presence in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2027 for the third consecutive year. The ranking data shows that Arabian Gulf University was placed in the (401–450) bracket globally, moving up by 19 places compared to its previous ranking, placing it among the top 450 universities worldwide.
AGU Wins the ASPIRE Global Award
AGU, represented by its College of Medicine and Health Sciences, has achieved a new global milestone by winning the ASPIRE Award for Excellence in Medical Education, presented by the International Association for Health Professions Education (AMEE), in the category of Excellence in the Use of Medical Simulation.

KING FAHD ACADEMIC CHAIR
Arabian Gulf University has had the honor of hosting the Chair of the Late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in the field of medical biotechnology since the 1997–1998 academic year, with a generous one-time grant of one and a half million Saudi riyals. This chair, which is the first academic chair at the Arabian Gulf University, honors the legacy of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz and his pioneering roles in supporting scientific research and promoting scientific and technological development.

The Arabian Gulf University has hosted the Chair of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Environmental Sciences since the 1997–1998 academic year. In July 2003, a cooperation agreement was signed between the university and the Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works in the United Arab Emirates, establishing a permanent endowment with a capital of 7 million UAE dirhams to fund the Chair’s scientific and research activities.

The agreement between Arabian Gulf University (AGU) and The George Washington University (GW), acting through its School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), establishes a framework for international cooperation in medical education, training, and research. Managed by GW’s Office of International Medicine Programs (IMP), the partnership facilitates academic exchange and professional development for medical students and scholars from both institutions. In 2025, Arabian Gulf University (AGU) and the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) signed a Research Collaboration Agreement to study and help safeguard the Kingdom of Bahrain’s marine benthic habitats most notably its seagrass meadows and historic pearl‑oyster beds. The partnership pairs AGU’s broad marine and environmental research expertise including remote sensing and a particular strength in seagrass ecosystems with DANAT’s specialist focus on pearls and pearl‑oyster beds and its stewardship of Bahrain’s pearling heritage, bringing field, laboratory, and satellite‑based methods together within a single national research effort.
