The Chair
The Chair of Identity and Citizenship aims to harness research and studies to reflect on citizenship education in school curricula, as well as to facilitate knowledge exchange and international cooperation in the field of strengthening Gulf identity and citizenship among the younger generation as a cornerstone of sustainable development, progress, and advancement at the individual and societal levels.

To develop an index of national identity

To conduct scientific research and studies, developing databases, and publishing them in this field.

To organize regional scientific awards in distinguished research fields related to topics within the Chair’s areas of expertise.
Publishing
To publish original works and translations addressing the Chair’s subject matter.
Events Organizing
To organize events (conferences, seminars, lectures, and meetings) on identity and citizenship.
Training
To conduct training courses, seminars, and workshops on matters of identity and citizenship.
Contribution
To contribute to the inclusion of citizenship education in the documents and curricula of ministries of education.
Cooperation
To cooperate at the regional and international levels in the Chair’s field of work.
Key Achievements
- Signing of the agreement to establish the Academic Chair on October 9, 2024.
- Appointment of the steering committee for the academic chair by the university and the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States.
- Drafting of the academic chair’s work plan for the next two years, 2025–2027.
- A television interview to introduce the academic chair, on the “Masaa al-Khair” program on Bahrain TV.
