The Chair

The Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Academic Chair in Clinical Microbiology and Immunology represents an important step in the joint efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states to promote research, education, and innovation in the fields of microbiology and immunology. The Chair’s mission is to provide high-quality medical education, conduct pioneering research, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and address the challenges posed by infectious diseases in the region. By attracting outstanding talent, increasing research funding, and expanding its capabilities in the coming years, the Chair aims to establish a globally recognized research center.

This initiative focuses on experiential learning, community engagement, and the development of innovative solutions to regional and global health challenges. Through these efforts, the college and the university will strengthen their leadership positions in the field of microbiology, foster scientific excellence, and actively contribute to the well-being of society across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

  • Scientific publications: 20 publications (18 scientific articles and 2 chapters in scientific books).
  • Research presented at conferences: 16 scientific posters (including three at international conferences), one of which was presented by medical students.
  • Research projects: 17 funded and unfunded projects, in addition to 4 ongoing student projects.
  • Community projects: workshops, lectures, and awareness seminars.
  • Faculty appointments: Appointment of 3 assistant professors.
