Professional Skills

The Professional Skills part is an integral component of the MD curriculum, spanning from the second year to the fourth year of Phase II, prior to Phase III (Clerkship Phase).

The program focuses on three key areas: History taking, communication skills, and physical examination.

Objectives of the Professional Skills Program aims to:

• Empower students to master history-taking skills: Students will gain proficiency in gathering comprehensive and accurate medical history from patients, enabling them to understand the context of their illness and identify potential health concerns.
• Enable students to conduct proper physical examination: Students will develop the skills to perform thorough and systematic physical examination, adhering to strict ethical guidelines and ensuring patient privacy.
• Refine students' communication skills for effective interaction with patients and family members: Students will develop their communication abilities to engage in clear, empathetic, and responsible interactions with patients, families, and other healthcare providers, fostering trust and collaboration.

Training Methodology

The Professional Skills Program utilizes a simulated learning environment within the college's dedicated simulation center, providing a safe setting for students to practice and refine their skills. Initially, students will work with mannequins and standardized patients to gain a solid understanding of history-taking techniques and physical examination procedures before applying these skills to real patients in hospitals and health centers.

Faculty Expertise

A team of experienced and highly qualified faculty members will guide students through the Professional Skills component, providing instruction, feedback, and mentorship. These faculty members possess extensive clinical experience and a deep understanding of the importance of effective communication, history taking, and physical examination skills in patient care.
