Dr. Nada Al-Yousif, a consultant in ophthalmology and eye surgery at the University Medical Center, and an associate professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Arabian Gulf University,  participated in the proceedings of the Saudi Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Conference by presenting a scientific paper that addressed the relationship between the microbiome and eye health, highlighting one of the recent research topics that is gaining increasing attention in the field of ophthalmology.

The paper sparked engagement among conference participants and sparked scientific discussions on the role of the microbiome and its relationship to eye health, as well as the research prospects offered by studying the interactions between microorganisms, tissues, and vital functions—which contribute to a deeper understanding of the factors associated with eye health.

Dr. Al-Yousif’s participation comes amid growing interest in the study of the microbiome and its relationship to human health, including eye health. This field represents one of the latest research trends focused on understanding the interactions between microorganisms, tissues, and vital functions, and exploring their potential applications in future medical practices.

Dr. Al-Yousif expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Saudi Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery for inviting her to participate in the conference, praising the Society’s efforts in organizing specialized scientific events and conferences that bring together ophthalmologists, researchers, and specialists, and providing a platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise and discussing the latest medical and research developments in the field of ophthalmology.
